Who Am I?

Do you ever wonder who you are and what’s truly important to you?

I feel pulled in ten million different directions when I try to narrow my focus down to the core of who I am and what’s important to me.

I’m a mom, an entrepreneur, a lawyer, a woman, a blogger, a law business owner, a coach, an author …

And Abraham says “Your frustration isn’t because you’re not getting the things you want.
Your frustration is that you’re not BEING Who You Are.” Los Angeles, CA, 2-3-08

Perhaps I’m really frustrated because I’m being who I am too much and forgetting the truth that I am truly none of that at all.

My view is that if you take time on a regular basis to get in touch with your core…through whatever medium works for you best …meditation, being with a lover, dancing, worshiping your children, drawing, yoga, singing,…even doing something as direct and simple as taking a few moments of quiet a day to ask “what is most important to me?”…your core self will inevitably respond. And once you commit to developing your relationship with that core, nothing you do can pull you away from It, because everything you do becomes infused with It. Your “being” becomes your life, and what you “do” becomes just a reverberation, manifestation of that “being”. It’s everywhere you turn, everything you touch, every idea you have, every project you initiate, and nothing can distract you from It.

I am going through a similar experience with my law practice and other business pursuits.

When I get in a place like this, I have learned through working with my coach that the key is to always look to your core values. When I am frustrated or confused or even vaguely dissatisfied, I usually find that some decision I have made or some action I have taken is not in tune with my core values. These are the values at the core of your being, the things you must have to be happy. For me, they are freedom, creativity, love, adventure and authenticity. Whenever I make a decision or take on a project that conflicts with one of those, I feel trapped and uncomfortable.
